Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- First and last name (optional)
- Password (stored as a secure hash — we never store your actual password)
Voice Recordings and Transcriptions
Pace records audio and transcribes it using AI services. Here's how your data is handled:
- Audio recordings are stored locally on your device by default
- Transcription is performed by third-party AI services (AssemblyAI) — audio is sent to their servers for processing and is not retained after transcription
- AI analysis (summaries, action items, mood) is performed by OpenAI — your transcript text is sent for processing and is not retained for training
- Cloud backup is optional and user-initiated — if enabled, encrypted copies are stored in your connected cloud storage (e.g., Dropbox)
Usage Data
We collect anonymized usage data to improve the App:
- Transcription minutes used (for billing purposes)
- Feature usage patterns (which features you use, not what you say)
- App performance metrics (crash reports, load times)
Purchase Information
Subscription and purchase transactions are processed by Apple (App Store). We receive:
- Transaction IDs and receipt data (for subscription validation)
- Subscription status and expiration dates
We do not receive or store your payment card details — these are handled entirely by Apple.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide and maintain the App's core functionality (transcription, AI analysis)
- Manage your account and subscription
- Track usage against your subscription allocation
- Send transactional emails (verification, password reset)
- Improve the App based on anonymized usage patterns
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
Data Sharing and Third Parties
We share data with the following third-party services only as necessary to provide the App:
- AssemblyAI — receives audio for transcription (not retained after processing)
- OpenAI — receives transcript text for AI analysis (not used for model training per their API terms)
- Apple — processes payments and subscription management
- Resend — sends transactional emails (verification, password reset)
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not share your voice recordings or transcripts with anyone for advertising or marketing purposes.
Data Storage and Security
- Account data is stored on secure servers with encryption at rest
- Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure keychain (iOS Keychain)
- Voice recordings remain on your device unless you enable cloud backup
- All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — view your profile and usage history in the App
- Delete your account — permanently remove all your data from our servers via Settings → Delete Account
- Export your notes — export your transcripts and notes from the App
- Correct your information — update your profile details in the App
Data Retention
- Account data is retained while your account is active
- When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers
- Local data on your device remains until you uninstall the App or clear it manually
Children's Privacy
Pace is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App or on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
